We have just returned from a fantastic Canberra excursion having experienced all that Canberra has to offer- including the cold evenings.
Staying in the area adjacent to Cotter Dam surrounded by high hills with a view towards the Brindabella Ranges, the 46 students that attended thoroughly enjoyed their time away.
Excursion highlights included :
- a visit to Government House with a tour being conducted inside ( at the time the Royal Danish twins were in residence);
- a visit to Parliament House where we undertook a mock parliamentary sitting and had morning tea with Mr Windsor our Federal member for New England;
- learning about tragedy of war at the Australian War Memorial;
- conducting a mock election( using the preferential system) at old Parliament House;
- Inspecting and commenting on some fine works of art at the National Gallery;
- shooting each other with lazers in Belconnen;
- getting thoroughly drenched at the Sydney Olympic Pool; and
- exploring QUESTACON.
The teachers were very proud of the children they took away and we look forward to doing it all again in 3 years.
